NEED A RIDE TO A BOARD OR ANNUAL MEETING? PLEASE CALL ANY BOARD MEMBER AND WE'LL GET YOU THERE.

Welcome to SORRENTO SOUTH, a boater's community of 123 single-family homes "West of the Trail." Our main entrance at Bayshore Road leads to the 9-hole Bayshore Executive Golf Club and a 42-dock marina (with direct access to the Intracoastal Waterway) for those who don't live on the Blackburn bayfront or on one of our canals. We are located 2.5 miles from the Albee Boat Ramp, 3.0 miles from the Blackburn Boat Ramp and 5.0 miles from the Venice Boat Ramp. Boats and kayaks can be launched at these locations. If you are looking for a home in an attractive boating community, we are sure you will enjoy living here.

Not a boater or golfer? Located midway between Sarasota and Venice, we are in the perfect spot to take advantage of all the amenities these charming small cities have to offer, such as gorgeous beaches, excellent restaurants, fishing and other sports, an impressive variety of the performing arts, great shopping, the world class Ringling museum, and let's not forget the circus! You can be in downtown Sarasota in 20 minutes and on Venice island in 10.

Right here in Nokomis, we have Nokomis Beach and North Jetty Park where you can fish, launch a boat, swim, admire sea birds, or just watch a sunset. Just a bit farther north along Tamiami (41), there's Oscar Scherer State Park to the east and Historic Spanish Point to the west. If you're driving to either the Sarasota or Tampa airports, or east to Myakka State Park or Lakewood Ranch, you have quick access via 681 to I-75. And if you're into serious biking or walking, the wonderful 10-plus mile Legacy Trail is close by.

Sorrento South is a deed-restricted community, which means that membership in the Sorrento South Property Owners' association is mandatory. The current dues for homeowners are $300 a year, payable by March 1st to the Sorrento South Property Owners, Inc. Owners of boat slips also pay dock fees twice a year to the Sorrento Dock Owner's Association, an organization that manages the marina for the SSPO.

The SSPO Board of Directors meets the second Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. in the Community Center Clubhouse on Dante Circle. Members of the Association are welcome to observe meetings and to serve as volunteers on committees. The annual meeting of the general membership is held in January, at which time elections are held to fill open positions on the Board of Directors. The Sorrento Times, our association newsletter, is published several times a year to keep members informed between annual meetings. We welcome suggestions and member participation!
